HIKING IN TUSCANY
A Journey Between Nature, Culture and History
The itinerary takes place in the amazing landscape of the hills surrounding Florence, with perpetually evolving atmospheres and colors that change with the seasons.
The tour is a walk between nature and culture, with white (without asphalt) paths in a green rural landscape, where the Etruscans and eventually the Romans established themselves before the latter founded Florence in the underlying valley.
The path, winding through natural olive groves and vineyards, ancient villas and churches will lead to Fiesole. This is a territory that represents a millennia’s worth of cultural history, with its testimonies of ancient civilizations, such as the Romans and the Etruscans that each lived along a countryside still unadulterated by modern standards and means.
Our specialized guide will explain the ‘reasons of being’ of this rural world that owes its creation to the constant presence of peasant work activity, regulated by the mezzadria system of economic production and social relationships.
The tour will explore the history of Leonardo da Vinci’s first flying attempts at Monte Ceceri, a slope used by the original Renaissance man for his experiments four centuries before the Wright brothers finally took it to the air.
